Inflammatory response against Trypanosoma cruzi parasitised cells from adrenal vein and myocardium in chronic Chagas' disease.

چکیده
We have previously published a paper stressing the higher frequency of T. cruzi nests in the central vein of adrenal gland (CVAG) (50%) when compared to the left ventricular myocardium (LVM) (17%) in patients with chronic Chagas’ disease4. Those results could be related to a milder inflammatory response against the parasite or its products in the CVAG. In th is w o rk , w e co m p are the inflammatory response (focal leucocyte exudate-FLE) to amastigote nests occurrence in both CVAG and LVM. We determined the topographic relationship b etw een FLE and 45 nests of T. ci~uzi randomly selected in the CVAG of 18 patients and 23 nests detected in the LVM of 6 patients. The frequency of “adhering” leucocytes to parasitised cells surface was also estimated by analysis of a single histological section. This phenomenon was classified as mild in the presence of only one or two “adhering" leucocytes, moderate in the presence of three to five and marked in the

Trypanosoma cruzi, a hemoflagellate protozoan (family Trypanosomatidae), is the ethiological agent of Chagas disease, which is affecting 16-18 million people, with more than 100 million exposed to the risk of infection. Higher plants are a potential source of new drugs to improve the treatment of Chagase disease. Until recently, Rutacea, Meliaceae, Simaroubaceae and Burceraceae families have be...
متن کاملEvaluation of CD4+CD25+ T lymphocyte response time kinetics in patients with chronic Chagas disease after in vitro stimulation with recombinant Trypanosoma cruzi antigens.
INTRODUCTION CD4+CD25+ T lymphocytes have been implicated in the regulation of host inflammatory response against Trypanosoma cruzi, and may be involved in the clinical course of the disease. METHODS Peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients with chronic Chagas disease were cultured in the presence of T. cruzi recombinant antigens and assayed for lymphocytes at distinct time points. ...
متن کاملCutting edge: dysfunctional CD8+ T cells reside in nonlymphoid tissues during chronic Trypanosoma cruzi infection.
Chagas disease is caused by persistent Trypanosoma cruzi infection in muscle tissue that ultimately results in chronic inflammation and tissue destruction. It is unclear why T. cruzi is cleared from some tissues but persists in others, despite an active inflammatory response. In this study, we show that the majority of CD8(+) T cells present in muscle tissue express memory and effector cell sur...

Nitric oxide (NO) participates in neuronal lesions in the digestive form of Chagas disease and the proximity of parasitised glial cells and neurons in damaged myenteric ganglia is a frequent finding. Glial cells have crucial roles in many neuropathological situations and are potential sources of NO. Here, we investigate peripheral glial cell response to Trypanosoma cruzi infection to clarify th...
متن کاملAcute heart inflammation: ultrastructural and functional aspects of macrophages elicited by Trypanosoma cruzi infection
The heart is the main target organ of the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, the causal agent of Chagas' disease, a significant public health issue and still a major cause of morbidity and mortality in Latin America. During the acute disease, tissue damage in the heart is related to the intense myocardium parasitism. To control parasite multiplication, cells of the monocytic lineage are highly mobiliz...
